History – Hotel Kaiserhof Anif in Salzburg, Austria
From imperial guests & Tesla fans
The history of the Hotel-Restaurant Kaiserhof in Anif dates back as far as 700 years. The first owners were mentioned in the chronicle of the town of Anif in 1348. Once, the Kaiserhof was said to be one of the oldest "Taferne" – as guesthouses were called in German at that time – in the village of Anif-Niederalm. At this time, it was part of the manorial system under the Salzburg archbishops.
Following an oral tradition, two special guests stopped at the Kaiserhof at the beginning of 1856: Emperor Franz Josef and Empress Elisabeth – known as Sisi – together with their entire royal household. This famous visit was also probably what gave the hotel the name it has today.
The legendary time of the Kaiserranch
Around 50 years ago, a dance bar was created exactly where the Kaiserbar is located today: the legendary Kaiserranch, where countless wild nights were parties. There were few celebrities that didn't stop by there to have a few drinks and a dance with live music.
The transformation to the modern three-star hotel
In 2001, it was finally time: the current hosts, the Absenger family, took over the Kaiserhof and made it what it is today. Thanks to numerous investments and regular renovation work, the hotel took on a new shine. From the new Superior rooms in the Bel Etage through the chicly designed Kaiserbar to the modern seminar area.
The present: sustainability for guests & environment
The three-star hotel in Anif is today not only comfortable and modern, but also sustainable. Already for more than 10 years, the heart of host Richard Absenger has beat for e-mobility. Across Europe, the Kaiserhof has made a name for itself as an e-car friendly hotel. And rightly so: an e-fleet with Tesla rental as well as free e-charging stations and Tesla Superchargers are part of the offer at the Kaiserhof.
Since 2017, the Kaiserhof has been a klima active partner. The electricity used in the hotel operations comes 100 percent from renewable sources. On the roof, a photovoltaic system generates clean electricity. In the kitchen, regional food set the tone. The breakfast buffet features exclusively organic products. And in the bathrooms of the Superior room, you can find high-quality natural cosmetic products along with the exclusive Dyson Supersonic hairdryer.
A look at the future of the Kaiserhof
Because the hosts want to make the Kaiserhof even more modern and eco-friendly, they have set themselves high targets:
- Expanding charger infrastructure and keeping with the technical state-of-the-art
- Becoming entirely energy self-sufficient
- Obtaining regional food and focusing on organic products
- Switching the entire cuisine to organic food
- Offering a charging connection in every parking space
