Salzburg and the surrounding area are not only rich in sights, but also in cultural events and traditional customs. Here we give you an overview of events and cultural highlights that can enrich your stay at the Kaiserhof Anif:
- Salzburg Festival ( July/August): The top cultural event of the year. World stars of classical music come together for operas, plays and concerts. Highlights include “Jedermann” on Cathedral Square and the operas in the Festspielhaus. Tickets are in great demand - we are happy to help with the organization or arrange remaining tickets. During the festival season, the city is in a special mood: open-air broadcasts on Kapitelplatz also allow spontaneous enjoyment.
- Salzburg Easter Festival: top-class opera and concert events around Easter, founded by Herbert von Karajan. Each year with a particular orchestra as a guest. Ideal for lovers of classical music outside the summer months.
- Advent & Christmas markets: Salzburg at Christmas time is magical. The Christmas market on Domplatz and Residenzplatz attracts visitors with mulled wine, hot chestnuts and arts and crafts. But there are also smaller Advent markets around Anif - e.g. the Hellbrunn Advent Magic in Hellbrunn Palace (park decorated with thousands of lights, very atmospheric) or the Anif Christmas market by the church.
- New Year in Salzburg: A musical turn of the year - often with a New Year's Eve concert in the Grosses Festspielhaus and fireworks over the fortress. On New Year's Day, we recommend a New Year's concert or the traditional bell ringing and toasting on the city hills.
- Summer customs & events: Many traditional festivals take place in the summer months. For example, the Anifer Kirtagsfest (a village festival with music, traditional costumes and fairground rides) or the Rupertikirtag in Salzburg at the end of September - a large fair on the cathedral square in honor of the city's patron saint Rupert with fairground rides in a historical atmosphere.
- Autumn & Thanksgiving: Harvest festivals are celebrated in rural regions around Anif. In October there are cattle drives and Oktoberfest-like events. For example, the Harvest Festival in Salzburger Land or the “Anif Farmers' Market” with regional products.
- Perchten runs (December/January): An Alpine custom - scary figures with elaborate masks (Perchten) drive out the winter in Advent and at the turn of the year. Several Perchten runs take place in the region, for example in Grödig or Hallein. Not for the faint-hearted, but an impressive spectacle!
- Summer open-air & concerts: Salzburg offers more than just classical music - open-air concerts at the fortress, jazz festivals (e.g. Jazz & The City in the fall, free in many bars and squares in the old town), modern music at Szene Salzburg or Rockhouse. Big stars also perform from time to time (e.g. in the Salzburg Arena).
- Local culture tips: For those who like things a little smaller: the small theater in Schallmoos offers cabaret and cabaret. The Salzburg Marionette Theater enchants with operas performed by marionettes (an experience for young and old!). In Anif itself, there are often castle concerts or organ concerts in the Anif church in summer.

Tips from the Kaiserhof:
- We will be happy to let you know which events are taking place during your trip. Please also have a look in our lobby area - current event information is displayed there.
- Tickets & Reservations: As a hotel, we can organize or reserve tickets for many events (if available). Just get in touch with us - it makes sense to enquire in good time, especially for festivals or concerts.
- Transfer: We are happy to organize a cab or our shuttle for you if you want to go to an event in the city in the evening and want to come back comfortably. This way you can enjoy a glass of champagne at a concert without having to think about your car.
- Kaiserhof packages: Look out for our special package offers - for example, during the Christmas season we could offer an “Advent package” with a mulled wine reception and shuttle to the Hellbrunn Advent Magic, or a festival package with dinner & transfer. Details in the Arrangements section.
