Whisky Tasting & Beer Tasting

Would you like to deepen your knowledge of whisky and beer and spend some enjoyable hours doing so? Then our tastings are just the thing for you! The Kaiserhof Anif regularly offers whisky and craft beer tastings, which are an experience for beginners and connoisseurs alike.

Whisky tasting: discover the world of whisky

Scotch whiskies single malt, McCallan, Glenfarclas, Glengoyne, Tomatin, Edradour,
the whisky board in the Kaiserbar

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the “water of life” (uisge beatha)! At our whisky tastings, we present an exquisite selection of whiskies from different regions and countries. Under the expert guidance of our bar manager Fritz, you will taste several high-quality whiskies one after the other. We serve still water and suitable snacks (such as dark chocolate or cheese) to round off the aromas.

What can you expect? Usually 5-6 different whiskies, e.g. a mild Lowland whisky to start, followed by stronger single malts from the Scottish Highlands and Islands (with a peaty, smoky character), perhaps an Irish whiskey for comparison or a bourbon from the USA, and as a highlight a rare drop - such as a Japanese whisky with subtle elegance. You will learn interesting facts about the origin, production and special features of each variety. Why does an Islay whisky taste of smoke? Why are bourbons sweeter? We will be happy to answer your questions.

The tasting takes place in a relaxed atmosphere in our Kaiserbar. Duration: approx. 2 hours. Number of participants: usually 5-15 people. Exclusive tastings for closed groups can also be booked - ideal as a supporting program for companies or private parties.

(Note: To ensure responsible enjoyment, we offer a shuttle service after the tasting on request or help with cab organization. Of course, you are also welcome to stay overnight in the hotel).

Craft beer tasting: experience beer culture in a new way

Beer is not just beer - our craft beer tastings prove this impressively. Discover the diversity of modern brewing culture with us! Under the guidance of our beer sommelier, you will taste several special beers that differ significantly from mass-produced beers.

Procedure: We typically put together a journey through different beer styles. We could start with a light pale ale from Austria, then perhaps a hoppy IPA (India Pale Ale) with tropical fruit notes. We continue with a malty red ale or a Belgian Witbier. Towards the middle it gets stronger: e.g. a porter or stout with coffee and chocolate notes. At the end, a special highlight is a must, such as a barrel-aged Barley Wine or a sour beer for the brave. A total of around 5 different beers, each 0.1-0.2 l, will be tasted.

During the tasting, you will learn exciting facts about hop varieties, brewing techniques and beer history. Why is craft beer more bitter? How do the fruity notes get into IPA? What is meant by top-fermented and bottom-fermented? Our expert will explain it to you. We also serve small snacks that go well with the beers - for example cheese cubes, bread or chocolate (yes, chocolate can go great with stout!).

Atmosphere: relaxed and sociable - beer connects! Our tastings are interactive, you are welcome to share your impressions and ask questions. Laughter and amazement are part of the experience, perhaps when someone tries a really smoky smoked beer for the first time or a sour beer that is more reminiscent of cider.

Even more enjoyment

In addition to whisky and beer, we also offer tastings in other areas on request: e.g. gin tasting (experience various types of gin with matching tonics) or wine tastings of regional wines in cooperation with winegrowers. Just ask us - at the Kaiserhof, everything revolves around enjoyment and we are happy to share this passion with our guests.

Conclusion: A tasting at the Kaiserhof is enjoyment, education and entertainment all in one. Whether you are a novice who is curious or a connoisseur who wants to deepen their passion - you will get your money's worth. Let's toast together: cheers, cheers and sláinte!
