Hohensalzburg Fortress
The imposing fortress towers high above the city. It is one of the largest fully preserved castle complexes in Europe. You can easily reach the top with the fortress train. A breathtaking panoramic view of Salzburg and the surrounding area awaits you at the top. The interior rooms, museums and the castle courtyard take you back to medieval times.
DomQuartier & Residence
The baroque heart of Salzburg - visit the magnificent Salzburg Cathedral, stroll through the state rooms of the Residenz (once the seat of the prince archbishops) and enjoy art treasures in the DomQuartier Museum. The cathedral square with the statue of the Virgin Mary is a popular photo spot.

Mirabell Palace & Mirabell Gardens
Mirabell Palace and its beautiful gardens are located on the right-hand side of the Salzach. The Mirabell Gardens with Pegasus Fountain, Hedge Theater and the famous staircase, which also features in the film “Sound of Music”, are a must for every visitor. Here you will also find a baroque dwarf garden and great views of the old town and fortress.
Mozart places
In addition to Mozart's birthplace, his later residence, the Mozart House on Makartplatz, can also be visited. Music lovers can also attend a concert at the Mozarteum or visit one of the many churches, such as the University Church or the Franciscan Church, where classical concerts are often held.
Getreidegasse & shopping in Salzburg
The Getreidegasse with its guild signs is a shopping and promenade in Salzburg. In addition to international brands, there are traditional stores such as the Fürst confectionery with the original Mozartkugeln or traditional costume stores offering typical Austrian fashion.

From the Kaiserhof Anif to the city of Salzburg
You can easily reach Salzburg by bus on lines 170, 175 and 35. The bus stop near the Hotel Kaiserhof runs every 15 minutes. The journey time to the city center is about 20 minutes. By car it is about 10 minutes to the outskirts of the city/park&ride.
From Kaiserhof Anif, we recommend parking at P+R Salzburg Süd and taking the trolleybus line to the city center. This way you can enjoy a stress-free journey into the city without having to look for a parking space in the city center.

Hellbrunn Palace & trick fountains (approx. 2.5 km):
Right next door is the baroque Hellbrunn Palace. The water features are world-famous, a complex of grottos, fountains and hidden water fountains that provide surprise and refreshment. In the palace itself, you can visit the magnificent rooms or stroll through the extensive park. Tip: Hellbrunn Zoo is also located on the grounds.
Salzburg Zoo (approx. 2.5 km)
Right next to Hellbrunn Palace is Salzburg Zoo, an animal delight for young and old. Over 150 animal species, natural enclosures embedded in the rocky landscape at the foot of the Untersberg. Highlights include the lions, jaguars, red pandas and the Africa panorama.
Untersberg cable car in St. Leonhard (approx. 1 km)
The Untersberg, Salzburg's local mountain, rises impressively on our doorstep. The Untersberg cable car takes you up to an altitude of around 1,776 m in just a few minutes. At the top, a magnificent panorama over the city of Salzburg, the Berchtesgaden Alps and, on clear days, as far as Lake Chiemsee awaits you. There are numerous hiking trails. The Zeppezauerhaus also invites you to take a break.
Hallein Salt Mine, Bad Dürrnberg (approx. 8 km)
Immerse yourself in the exciting world of white gold. In the salt mine, you can experience a guided tour deep underground, including the famous miners' slides and a raft ride across the underground salt lake. An experience for the whole family, where you can learn a lot about the history of salt mining in a fun way.
Königssee & Berchtesgaden (ca. 18 km)
A detour across the nearby border to Bavaria is worthwhile: the emerald-green Königssee lake in the Berchtesgaden National Park is a natural idyll. Take a boat trip to the St. Bartholomä peninsula and listen to the echo when the trumpet sounds. In Berchtesgaden, you can visit the Obersalzberg Documentation Center or the Eagle's Nest - historic places with impressive views.
Bluntautal Valley in Golling (approx. 25 km)
A real insider tip for nature lovers. The Bluntau Valley is a picturesque valley with a crystal-clear stream and small lakes, framed by high mountains. Easy hiking trails lead through the meadow landscape, perfect for a walk with your dog. There is a snack station at the end of the valley.
Gollinger waterfall (approx. 25 km)
In Golling, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Austria rushes down a total of 75 meters over 2 steps. A path leads up to the original cave - a refreshing spectacle, especially in summer.
Salzkammergut lakes (from 30 km)
In around 30-40 minutes you can reach the first lakes of the Salzkammergut such as the Fuschlsee for swimming in summer, a little further away, the famous Wolfgangsee with St. Wolfgang, known from the movie “Im Weissen Rössl” or the Mondsee. A day trip to the lake district with its breathtaking landscapes is highly recommended.
Eisriesenwelt Werfen (approx. 45 km):
The largest ice cave in the world awaits adventure-seekers in Werfen. After a steep climb or a ride on the cable car, you enter an underground wonderland of ice. The guided tour takes place with carbide lamps and you can admire impressive ice formations. Don't forget to dress warmly. A visit to the Eisenrisenwelt in Werfen can be combined with a trip to the Hohenwerfen adventure castle with a bird of prey show.
Silent Night Museum Oberndorf (approx. 30 km)
The world-famous Christmas carol “Silent Night” was first performed in Oberndorf in 1818. Visit the Silent Night Chapel and the museum and learn more about the origins of this song.
Sports activities in Anif and the surrounding area
From the Kaiserhof you can also start great hikes to the Untersberg, the Schlenken or the Gaisberg. The Salzach Valley is particularly suitable for extensive cycling tours.
